The Nautical Institute
The Nautical Institute is an international organisation which aim is to promote safer and more efficient shipping practice worldwide both at sea and ashore. One of the ways to accomplish this mission is through organizing MARS debates with the students of the HZS. Another way is through their student support plan.
MARS
Mars stands for Mariners' Alerting and Reporting Scheme. These are debates about a topical subject and are organised 4 or 5 times a year by the Nautical Institute and Argonaut. The goal of these debates is to make students aware of problems in the maritime industry which are not being discussed during the lessons at the HZS.
At the end of every debate, each student will receive a certificate of attendance which can be added the cadet training record book.
STUDENT SUPPORT PLAN
The members of the Nautical Institute are willing to help students who need maritime related information, contacts or additional information for their scriptie or thesis. It is their pleasure to put both their local and international networks disposal of students.
